In the world this story takes place in, swords have been heavily advanced to the point they have their own personality and are able to take on human form; those swords are now known under the name Anima Cal Livs, or short Anical, with their wielders being called Anical Fencers. Fearing the overwhelming power these fencers have, the government division of Anvil introduced deathmatches in Solomon City, an easy way to control the numbers of the fencers, as well as the fencers being able to rise in their ranks and achieve wealth and fame.
